Sam Thomas founded Kwota in 2017. He is by trade an electrician and works in the residential construction industry and has done for the past 13 years. He has had first-hand experience with the trade pain points, particularly when quoting clients, and the pressure to ensure a quote’s accuracy. Which ultimately can lead to a profit or loss scenario.
Sam has been stung in the past, his jobs were previously priced and managed in a complex excel spreadsheet, which was clunky, sometimes unreliable and not to mention painfully slow. He had his fair share of missing products and miscalculations in his pricing, which sometimes kept him working late into the night to correct them. The lack of trust he had in pricing other jobs subsequent to this all led to the demise of the excel spreadsheet.
Sam decided that he wanted to take the stress out of pricing. His concept was simple, he wanted to build a toolset that allowed tradespeople to quote their jobs quickly, without having to compromise on accuracy. Allowing him more time on the tools and less time sitting at his computer.
By creating pre-set price lists for all trades. There was no longer a need to re-create the wheel every time a new quote was required. This also avoided missed ‘items’ and missed labour due to the nature of the prompted pre-set items. Quotes could be created anywhere, on a customer site visit? or on a tea break?
Kwota has built up momentum over the past 5 years, with Sam working alongside a large eco-system of tradespeople he has gained valuable feedback from other trades who have helped shaped how Kwota looks today.
